The Outland Family Medical Clinic
offers a local health care venue to residents of
the Upper Laurel community who have no insurance
or are underinsured. Amy Beane, a resident
of the community, is the family nurse practitioner
at the clinic. The clinic's services will come at
no cost to residents.
To honor the memory of their
parents, the family of Jerald and Doris Outland
donated funds to Bright Hope Laurel United
Methodist Church to establish a free clinic to
provide health care to the church's Upper Laurel
neighbors. The Clinic was opened in the
Ebbs Chapel Community Center (adjacent to the
church) and is now a part of the non-profit Collaborative Health Partnership whose mission is to make healthcare accessible and affordable for
all in our community.
People can visit the clinic for
acute care, such as cold, flu, COVID tests,
minor injuries and other things for which
someone would usually visit urgent care.
Patients seeking chronic care relating to
diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol,
anxiety and obesity can also be treated at the
clinic.
Additionally, the Clinic can
administer basic lab tests such as blood sugar,
cholesterol, thyroid, flu, strep or drug
screens. Special needs such as sports physicals
and handicapped permit requests are also available at the clinic, as well as nutrition counseling
and diabetes education.
Beane, who is also a certified
diabetes educator and a registered dietitian,
specializes in endocrinology and cardiovascular
disease.
