North Carolina Adopt-a-Highway Program

Ebbs Chapel Community
Center has officially “adopted” Puncheon Fork Road through the community
as a contribution to the North Carolina Department of Highways’ Adopt-a-Highway
program. In the spring and often additional times in the year
residents of the Upper Laurel community walk the road picking up the
litter accumulated on its shoulders.
Upper Laurel attracts many visitors for its beauty and its recreational
opportunities. We take pride in our community and want to present
our best side to our guests. Presenting roadsides in their best
appearance increases our pride and presents our best face to
others. Our cleanup crews strive to achieve this goal. A
typical haul is about five
large 35 gallon bags of trash per mile of the road.
If you would like to join your neighbors on the crew and contribute to
the cleanliness of our roadsides, contact the center or indicate on the
volunteer form. If not, please drive carefully as your neighbors
do their work along the sides of our roads. And the crew requests
that you make their burden easier by not littering the roadsides. |
